Are you addicted to carbs?

Carbohydrate addiction, is it even a real thing? In my 16 years plus of working with clients, specialising in fat loss, I am convinced that it is ‘a thing’. I haven’t yet met a client who, when going through a tough time, craved eating a chicken leg or a piece of broccoli!

Is weight re-gain inevitable?

The stats for ‘dieters’ keeping lost weight off are pretty grim, with only about 5% achieving long term success. How sad and dispiriting is that. Does it have to happen? Of course not, but you have to realise that whatever you did to lose weight in the first instance has to become a long term habit.

Help! What do I do, I've fallen off the wagon?

Long term weight loss and healthy living isn’t about being perfect, it is about perseverance. It is about eating well most of the time and when you do have a bit of a wobble, just get back into a healthy regime ASAP. Holidays, weekends, birthdays, parties, there are plenty of occasions ready to trip us up, and they do.

Accountability, does it work for you?

Nearly every new client who comes to see me tells me that they need accountability. Yes, most have a reasonable idea of what they should and shouldn’t eat, but if there is no one to report into it can be difficult to keep the momentum going.

Getting back on track after a break

I think like most people, I find that getting out of routine sets me up for making decisions around food that aren’t always particularly wise and the thought ‘I’ll sort it out when I get home’ prevails. That’s fine, as long as you do, before the habits become ingrained.

Is fasting right for you?

What words immediately come to mind when you hear the word fasting?  Hunger, deprivation, crazy people, not going there... Fasting in some form or other has been around for a very long time, but in more recent times there have been a lot of studies which point to many health benefits which may come from fasting.
