Discounted nutrition packages post lockdown

From reading various Facebook feeds the common theme seems to be weight gain during lockdown. Lots of baking, drinking and trying of new recipes and not a lot of wearing much other than leggings.

I had an email from a client this morning wanting help with a new plan, the subject line read “Save me from the Fatpocalypse”. I loved it.

I am expecting to be able to work face to face with clients again at Level 2, but until the Government releases its guidelines later this week I can’t be sure. Fingers firmly crossed for appointments as normal from Tuesday 19 May.

Meanwhile, because I understand how tough it can be to get back on track once you have had a break from routine and eating healthily, I am, for a limited time, offering some discounted nutrition packages.

Winter meal ideas

Winter is starting to make its presence felt. After a great run of weather for what seems like months you are probably starting to think about making soups and casseroles, to replace some of the salads.

We are really fortunate here in New Zealand to have a great supply of quality winter veggies. Baked, steamed, stir fried, made into soups or frittatas, added to casseroles, etc, it isn’t difficult to bump up your veggie intake over the cooler weather.

Last week I looked in the fridge and saw three good sized zucchinis looking back at me and had an idea of using them as boats. I always have lean beef mince in the freezer as it is so incredibly versatile, so I whipped up these tasty zucchini boats.

Sometimes I add chilli flakes (very cautiously, half a teaspoon goes a long way!), or Italian herbs to mince, sometimes I make burger patties or meatballs with it. Winter is also a great time to make a shepherd’s pie with lean mince and for a change, use cauliflower mash on top.

A simple way to keep warm and also hydrated, is to add a few hot teas to your day. There are so many varieties out there, that there is pretty much a flavour for everyone.
