I love that term!
I think it describes perfectly how many of us have been feeling for the past weeks whilst in lockdown. A feeling of being in limbo, stagnation, with no direction and no timeline to get out this situation.
I’ve been holding off writing a newsletter, waiting each Monday to see if there would be a date for Auckland businesses to open up properly again. After the news this week it would seem that it is unlikely that I will be able to see clients, face to face, again this year.
In the meantime I am working online with clients, by email, by phone, or however clients find works best for them, for support, advice and accountability.
From what I’ve heard, most people are pretty much over the uncertainty and in turn it has led to changes in behaviour around food and alcohol. The thing is, once you start ramping up the baking, the buying and eating of treats and the glass or two of wine each night, that behaviour becomes the new norm.
Pretty quickly, your energy and motivation to make change decreases and it’s almost like you are waiting for a re-boot, something positive and direct to get you back on track again. Pull your summer clothes out of the wardrobe and see how you feel in them. That can work well as an incentive.
With just over 8 weeks until Xmas and warmer days starting, is it time for you to get back into good patterns again? If you want accountability and direction, perhaps a new food plan, or if there is something else we can work on, contact me now before another week goes by.
Fortunately, with the warmer weather and longer days, it is so much easier to get back into salads and cooking on the BBQ. Lighter food is quicker and easier to prepare and brightly coloured plates of food look so inviting. Make the most of the asparagus season now as it doesn’t last long. I find poaching the spears in a frypan is the easiest way to get a nice crisp result.
New Zealand strawberries are back in season too and I bought my first punnet yesterday. Yum, big, fat, juicy strawberries are delicious as a sweet treat after dinner.
I’m keeping this short, just to keep in touch, to say Hi and I hope you are doing okay. If you do want to get a grip with your nutrition this year, get in touch and we can work out how best suits you.
