Maria, aged 62 has lost 25kgs in 9 months

After being on a ‘diet’ for all of my adult life, losing over 20kgs on two previous occasions, and seeing numerous dieticians, naturopaths, hypnotherapists and health gurus along the way, I was pretty knowledgeable on healthy eating/living and walked every day, but I was again losing the weight loss war and it was affecting my health.

I had to do something and with a New Year I was considering bariatric surgery. Knowing food quantities would have to change anyway, I thought I’d try cutting my food intake to see how I coped. I also knew I needed professional help on what was going to be a long journey but who to choose this time?

I found the Nutrition for Life website which had interesting information on the latest weight loss science. Full of hope and family support there was also a touch of ‘here we go again’.

At my first appointment Lynda listened to my story and suggested we try LCHF (low carb healthy fat). Deep down I knew my beloved carbs were a problem for me so while getting a welcome fresh perspective I also wondered if I could actually do it. I have the weakest willpower, but I took it on as a project and I haven’t looked back.

This year has been life-changing - kilos melted away and after just 4 months my blood pressure medication had to be cut from 3 to 1 tablet, the dose of which has also now been halved. My exercise (simply walking) hasn’t really changed other than being a whole lot more enjoyable, but redirecting my focus has broken an addiction to carbs.

Lynda is expert in the science of weight loss and tailoring advice truly for the individual. She really does walk the talk and has made climbing my Everest almost effortless. I am so grateful and looking forward to finally enjoying a summer.
